2010 PA Southern Trout Opening

Out early today for some fishing on our southern PA opening day. The day was pretty cool. Creek was running very fast - actually too fast to keep my flies down even with split shot. A bit disappointing, but I am getting a better feel for my Yamame.

Maybe one day next week when the crowds go away I can sneak doan and get to practice a bit more.

All in all - any day fishing is better than working!

Hopefully the water levels go down by the next time you head out to fish. But you're right, any day on the water is a good day.

My Tenkara Rods:
13' Ayu, 12' Yamame, 11' with a conversion handle, and an Ito.

My Wife's Tenkara Rods:
12' Ebisu and 13.5' Amago, 12' Iwana with a conversion handle, and an Ito.

I took a friend's son out today. First time with a fly rod, and I let him use my Iwana on a small wild brown trout stream. He did really well, missing 3 trout in the first 30 minutes. He had a difficult time reacting to setting the hook.

A great rod to teach fly casting.
