Hiram Cook Melting Snow With A FF/CF Alcohol Stove

This is a larger version of the Fancy Feast/Carbon Felt Stove, but the snow melting was also done without the use of a wind screen. I was surprised how fast the snow was converted into water. I thought that for sure Hiram was going to scorch the pot. There was a time that I did a lot of winter camping and I usually experienced slower conversions of snow to water with MSR White Gas stoves than Hiram demonstrated with this alcohol stove. But the time it took to get the water up to a rolling boil was longer than it would have taken with most gas stoves, in my opinion.
