Honeymoon in Japan in October

Hey guys
My wife and I are very excited to spend a couple weeks in Japan the first two weeks of October. We will mainly be in the Kyoto region. We are flying in to Narita, spending a couple nights in Tokyo, heading to Hakone, then heading towards Kyoto. We will be staying mainly in ryokans and buddhist temple.
I have a Rhodo that I could pack. I typically fish western but I pull the tenkara and kebari out about 25% of the time. And in the winter its all I use.
My question is, is bring the rod worth the space I'll lose in my pack? Are there trout all over or are there specific regions I should cross check our path with? We're gonna be traveling around a lot, no more than a couple days in each spot. Mostly living out of a backpacking bag. So keeping it simple is key.
REALLY looking forward to the trip regardless.
