Hello all,

I was just looking for some takes on lines for fishing dry flies - in general would you go with a longer line than say something you would use to nymph with?

Hi, actually #1 would be a very lite line that you can hold off the water easier. One that does not drag the kebari down. Shorter length will also make it easier because the longer the line, the harder it will be to keep off the water, thus getting line in the water that may suck the fly down.

So for me I would normally try a very lite level line, say a #2.5. If using a rod length of line plus say 3' of tippet, then a 3.5 is OK too as the length of the line is not much longer than the rod so no big deal keeping the rod at a proper angle to get the fly on the surface.
