A couple of times a month since starting Tenkara USA I have been asked where one could acquire the authentic tenkara bamboo rods. The answer has always been the same, you can't.

Now, Dr. Ishigaki was inspired by our auction of a tenkara net and donated two bamboo rods from his collection. These are very rare, and will probably be the only ones to come to market. They are now on auction via Ebay:

Please spread the word. I'm hoping these two rods will get their true value and help a lot of people in Japan. A drop in the bucket for what they will need, but a drop nonetheless.

Beautiful equipment, I to was effected by a great flood last year in May. They called it a thousand year flood. The region has not recovered yet. All I could afford for the Japanese these days is prayer. I would love to see some handmade Tenkara rods. Perhaps if your company reaches a certain level of comfort. You could have some new bamboo rods for sale one day.
