What are the other ESSENTIAL pieces of equipment you carry with you? How do you pack? How do you hold your gear while fishing? Fly boxes? Snips? you tell us.

Make Do

This is a little embarrassing to post. Daniel offered himself up for a laugh a few days ago so I guess I will be next.

I'm kinda impatient when I can "make do". So I kinda fell onto some hand tools and material to tie a few flies. With a quick look at all the vises out there I knew I had some research to do before buying. This box of tools and feathers just kept calling to me.

As I walked to the car(I needed to get a few groceries) I saw it. Heck the food can wait I decide. I cleaned it up and was tying in about 20 minutes.

I think I paid $18 for this 3" vise a year ago for a project and its been sitting since. I'm still looking to get the real deal after I figure out the one I want.

Lol. I LOVE it. It's like Tool Time's answer to the fly tying vice. Nice! :-D

So that is what to use to tie shark flies, but if ti gets the job done it works.

You know when I had started looking at tying stuff, everyone I asked said to not use a tabletop vice because it wouldn't work well. But I guess you proved them wrong :)

This reminds me of the videos of someone holding the hook in their hand while tying a fly. I tried it once, out of desperation. It is not easy.
