Hooked on Tenkara

Postby cgjenkins » Sun Sep 12, 2010 8:57 pm

I received my new Tenkara rod a couple off weeks ago. I planned on trying it out on a week long trip to the Taylor river between Gunnison and Crested Butte Co. When I got one the river the first day I talked to a couple a guys who had been fishing for a few hours, and asked them how they were doing. They said that they would be doing well if they could catch some fish. Their comments did not bode well for the trip, but I pulled out my Tenkara rod (having never used it before), and started fishing. After my third or fourth cast I caught my first fist, a 14 inch brown trout. This set the stage for the rest of the trip. I havee to say that I have had better days on the river, but I was very happy with my results. I also fished exclusively with my Tenkara rod. I am hooked, and can't wait to get out again. Thanks TenkaraUSA for my new passion.

Welcome and thanks for the report. Which rod did you get?

I got the 12ft IWANA 6:4, and I love. I'm a gear hound anyway, but I find myself wanting to get other rods for different situations.

Welcome to the addiction. ;) Fortunately there's no cure for what you've contracted, but who would want a cure for this anyway.

Congratulations on catching fish on your first outing. A 14 inch brown must have given you a good bend in your Iwana. Nice!
