Received the Iwana this past winter and tried it out briefly during the cold months. Didn't know what to think - saw potential - but needed more observations. The one thing that was clear is that I would have to in some way mark the line so I knew when the furled leader ended and the tippet began. Well, yesterday I took her out again and all I can say is what a hoot! I marked the end of the leader with a short section of red amnesia and that made all the difference in the world. Caught lots of small trout (i.e., baby steelhead) and actually found landing them to be quicker and less troublesome on the Tenkara. I also think handling the occasional largish fish (12 - 14) will be very do able. Finally, being able to wiggle through heavy brush without trying to thread a rod through it is just plain appreciated. I did end up with a bit of a a birds nest in the leader a couple of times, but it was easily fixed. I ended up staying way way past the time I was supposed to get off the river simply because I was having way too much fun. Can't wait till next weekend!
