Tenkara On The Donegal

Postby fishmagic » Tue Mar 23, 2010 12:01 pm

I have had my Iwana for about two weeks, but was only able to get out yesterday for the first time on my home waters, the Donegal Creek near Lancaster, PA.

I fished solely with my Iwana, and caught 5 trout, 3 browns, and two rainbows. I was using a nymph of my creation, and was amazed at how quickly I could detect strikes.

Tenkara has rekindled my interest in fly fishing, and my interest in small stream fishing. In addition to trout fishing, I'm planning on hitting another local creek that has a good population of warm-water species such as smallmouths, and rock bass.

Great news! Glad Tenkara has gotten you back into fly fishing and that you had a good day on the water. Good luck on the warm water fish.
