Another short tenkara day

Postby mhackney » Sun May 31, 2009 4:28 pm

My son and I took our rods to the local stream this afternoon. The weather was looking iffy but we decided to give it a try anyway. It is about a 3/4 mile walk in and by the time we got to the stream the rain was falling. I had to at least get a few casts in! The lightening was getting close so I was only planning on a few casts. On the third, I hooked a nice little smallie and landed him on 7X. A quick release, and we headed back to the car. Bummer but fun outing anyway. While I was in Ct yesterday, my son was catching bluegills on the pond in our neighborhood with the 11' Iwana - now officially "his" rod. He is 14 and set the rod up and fished with no help from me.

I was looking at unanswered post and found this one. Sounds like your short day was kinda fun anyway. You caught a fish after a few casts. Awesome.
