Really enjoying the IWANA

Postby Derrick » Sun Aug 02, 2009 7:29 pm

Biggest grayling to date. Kind of a bad angle but it's almost 16". Caught on an IWANA with a size 12 red humpy (they have small mouths compared to trout and the larger fly keeps the 6 inchers off which are to hard to remove the hook from). There is no issues landing these guys with the unit. Really itching to get down to some trout waters to test this out. I'm also going to need another rod here shortly for my daughter to use. Took me all of 5 min to teach her to chuck and drift a fly with one of these.

edit - remeasured my rod fish was actually a little over 14". :)

Nice fish Derrick. I haven't caught anything on mine yet. But I will soon. There are just too many small creeks in Southern California that just get too dry in the summer. I have to travel and just haven't had the time yet. Get that trout and post a picture for us.
